Today, I came across with Safari Tidy plugin. Then, I also found out about HTML VALIDATOR for Mozilla browsers as well. I was just happy to see my page had no erros nor warnings found with these tools. So, here I am. I just want to bring it up to make myself look good! I've been so busy for my freelance jobs. It seems it's been a long time not upgrading this blog's system. I still think small pieces of the system can be better than they are now. Even though I always had some feelings of guilty about it, this "0 errors / 0 warnings" was such a gift to me today. Well, I know just validating HTML is not the absolute thing, but I still think it's a good start.
I also had recieved a nice compliment saying he liked my design of this blog and the tree part. He was also wondering about getting some feedback on his website, eLanguageSchool.net. As far as I can tell from browsing some pages on the website, I think it is a very resourceful and helpful for many people.
I also came across with this website, 世論 What Japan Thinks the other day. I suppose this website might be very interesting to whoever looking for business opportunities in Japan or someone who are simply interested in Japanese culture.
Phone Camera

I know, I know. Phone camera has been around for years in Japan. This isn't new at all, but for me, this is my very first try on this. Today, I shot only a few with default settings. It seems I chose 352 x 288 pixels, and the 2nd best compression mode with this shot. It looks like I could go as big as 1616 x 1212 pixels. That sounds huge, but I think that's the way the phone company makes money with the data transmission. However, I also could try use miniSD card to transfer the data to a computer. Hum.. It's so tempting to buy a new toy after a new toy.. Anyway, many poeple in Japan seems to use a mobile phone to post a blog. Not me, at least, not yet..
New Phone

I'm not really a phone guy. I don't use much of my mobile phone. Most of the time, I am on a computer, so I really don't need a phone, I suppose. It's better to find me on chat services, skype or whatever. I bought my first mobile phone 5 years ago when I moved to here. I wasn't really sure if I needed it, but I was looking foward to make new life in a new place. During the all years until today, I was so loyal to keep the same phone for 5 years. It's probably I didn't really care about the phone if it is outdated or anything much of it. However, some months ago, I noticed the battery life became shorter.
On Friday night, something big happend to the phone to danger its life. I totally forgot about the phone was in the pocket of my pants. The phone was soaked, soaped, washed, and spinned in the washing machine. There was no sign of life in the phone, or I wasn't really hoping much out of it anyway.
Today, I went to buy a new phone. I picked the one which has better web browsing features so I can try it. This photo is probably not clear but shows you the browser is actually taking the CSS of the page. Can you see it?
Oh, by the way, at the phone shop, I found out the old phone was not entirely dead yet. My wife wanted to keep it for playing Tetris, so we still have it. It's really unbelievable..
Koinobori

May 5th is a national holiday in Japan, named "Children's Day." Around these days, Koinobori, fish-shaped flags are raised up into the sky with a tall pole as high as twice much of an avarage houses. I don't remember I saw many of Koinobori when I was a kid. Where I grew up was suburban with rather condensed houses. Obviousely, not many people have the choice to raise the big Koinobori and the tall pole in their small yards.
I knew this day was actually "Boys' Day" even though it's called "Children's Day." A family with boys celebrate their kids health and growth on this day. I've learned a few things after moving to this small place in Kumamoto about this day and Koinobori. Koinobori is usually a gift for new born boys from grandparents, so I sometimes see Koinobori raised up in the houses where no kids living but remotely celebrating their grandkids, and probably in the case where they can't raise Koinobori in the kids' home. I also realized the people around here use for the pole is a tall skin-stripped cedar tree with only the tip of the tree is kept with leaves. I don't think I saw the tip of the pole like this at where I grew up, so it might be a regional thing. I'm not sure though.
We went a small farm-like theme park on the day. We got there late afternoon, looking foward to play around some, then the big dinner at their buffet restaurant. However, we found out that they are closing the park at 5pm and stop taking orders at 3:30 at the restaurant. Only for a short time, we played with their dogs then hurried for the early dinner. I took some photo of Koinobori while I was there, thinking of that I may blog about this day later ( and actually taking a half month to do so ). Well, I'll remember the next time we go there has to be in the morning!
