My niece My niece and my mom

My mom totally looks very happy, doesn't she? My younger sister gave a birth for her second child on December 20th. She lives happily with her husband and his parents in Hiroshima. However, she decided to welcome the new baby with the support of her mom and my family in Kumamoto. It seems this is a very common thing here in Japan.

Today, our three kids will meet this new-born cousin at the hospital. No worries needed. The baby and the mom are both in good shape. It is also common to take a longer time at a hospital after giving a birth in Japan, usually 5 days to a week. We are expecting them coming back to home on next Monday. It will be packed, 9 people in this small shack for next few months before they return to Hiroshima.

Thanks for the comment! Today, they visited a Shinto shrine for the first time after the baby's birth. This is very common practice in Japan for about 30 days old babies. We are having a small celebration at home tonight.
